Homeopathy is a way of healing that is based on activating the human body’s own curative powers using medicaments extracted from the animal, mineral and herbal kingdoms.

What is Homoeopathy?

This is a system of treatment developed from the natural law of similia similibus curentur “Like is cured by like”. That is, a substance or preparation which can cause groups of symptoms, whether physical, emotional, or behavioural, in the healthy, can cure similar groups of symptoms when they appear as a deviation from normal in the sick.

This principle was recognised by both Hippocrates and Paracelsus but was only developed as a practical method of healing by Dr Samuel Hahnemann who published his Homoeopathic Materia Medica in 1811.

Hahnemann first noticed this principle in action in observing the effect of Peruvian bark (Cinchona bark, contains quinine along with other alkaloids), the standard treatment for malaria at the time; it produced ‘malarial’ type fevers when he ingested it.

What sort of conditions can Homoeopathy treat?

It is not possible to state here the full range of health conditions which will respond favourably to homoeopathy. No two persons have identical bodies and minds, and though homoeopathy takes this into account professional advice is needed to ascertain the applicable remedy.
Some of the conditions which respond to homoeopathy are:

Allergies, arthritis, sinus, circulatory conditions, e.g. haemorrhoids and varicose veins, coughs, colds, bruising, burns, cuts, sprains, boils, festering wounds, insect bites, poor appetite, menopausal problems, dizziness, indigestion, rheumatism, nappy rash, sunburn, cramps, sciatica, neuralgia.

What happens in a consultation
The first consultation which takes approximately an hour covers many questions about your diet, life-style, temperament, likes and dislikes, family and personal medical history and current symptoms.

Why Homoeopathy?

Homoeopathy has stood the test of nearly 200 years practice through-out the world.

There are six homoeopathic hospitals in Britain and the London Homoeopathic Hospital is under Royal Patronage. Homoeopathy is also very popular in Europe, France and India, but is not widely used in pharmacy in Australia.

The remedies are simple and safe, no massive doses with problems of side effects.
They are non addictive. There are no hazards for children.
Even if an over-dose is taken they are not harmful.
